Been a while

Well, it’s been a while since I’ve updated the blog.  Sorry.  My bad.

Been really crazy through October.  Almost all my seniors that passed through this summer, and opted to finish their work in the fall, came through in October.  Still have some to shoot this week.  New one’s matter of fact.

Florida was really nice.  I very much enjoyed the time off.  Played golf in the morning, beach time in the afternoon, dinner in the evening.  Rinse and Repeat the next day. ;)

When things slow down this winter, I’ll be working on new sets upstairs in the studio for next years seniors.  I’ll also be working on new set designs for babies and smaller kids.

I’m also working with a digital painter in London.   I’ll be able to offer digital painting of images in the near future.  Excited about this service to.  Love her work as well.

Kicking around the idea of flying out to Seattle, in April for a few days spending time with my buddy Glenn, and then taking 2 weeks to drive back via the scenic route.  Maybe some portraits and landscapes on the way back home?  :)

Pretty much up to now.

See you on the other side of the lens soon.

Back from vacation

Made the annual pilgrimage to Panama City Beach again this year.

It was a vacation I was actually looking forward to.  Been shooting non-stop since Sept, and needed the break.  Mentally, and physically.

Funny thing about Florida and watching folks taking pictures at sunset.  Right after the sun breaks below the horizon, folks start to pack it in, and leave.

What they don’t know, or fail to understand, is that the best is yet to come.  Approx 45 minutes after the sunset, the real colours start to show up.

I used to do the same thing years ago, when I was shooting landscapes at Reelfoot Lake.  I remember talking to an elderly man in his backyard one evening after the sunset.  My gear was already in the SUV.

I had my back to the west, and as I turned around, I saw all this beautiful color.  I ran back to my SUV, and broke the gear out again, and started to shoot some more images.

Around the last evening there, I decided to shoot a very very long exposure of the sunset.  Well really an hour after the sun had gone down.  It was almost dark when I finally got what I wanted.

While I was sitting on the beach, right as the sunset was just starting, I looked back over my shoulder, and saw all these people on the beach, and out on the balcony’s of the hotels watching it.

It reminded me of the that movie where Nicolas Cage is an angel in the movie, “City of Angels“, and decides to bail on the ranks of angels to hook up with Meg Ryan.  Every morning they watch the sunrise, and every evening the angels watch the sunset.

It was a strange feeling watching the sunset, and thinking of that movie all at the same time.

Makes one think…..

Ahhhhhh,

The weather has broke.

I had so much fun yesterday,  working with Alton shooting his senior images.

Throwing out a BIG shout out of thanks to Autumn and her sister for helping out with Altons work.

Alton keeps a full calendar.  Long Distance Running, Tennis, etc…

Oh, congrats on the ATC score ;)

I love this time of year.

Things on tap for the week.  Edit, edit, and more editing.  At least I’m keeping up “somewhat” ;)

Seniors every evening.  Lauren today, and a pair of cute twins [HI Julie and Leslie]

Weather permitting.

Florida next week.  I’m excited about traveling down there.

I’ll be shooting some early dawn swimwear on the beach a day or two while I’m down there.

We’ll see if the hurricanes will ease up some and leave a window of opportunity open to go.

Couture Baby Chic’

I’m in love with this new outfit.  It came in last week, and I finally got around to getting the opportunity to shoot it today.

It’s so rich looking, and has amazing details in it.

Looking forward to more couture shoots in the future

It’s designed for 1 to 2-year-old ladies..

I’ll be in the process of finding additional props to use along with this outfit, but in the right mix, as to not overwhelm the shot.

Keep an eye here, for more upcoming shots of Baby Couture..

It’s Mr.Cruz to you…

We shot a tad bit of studio work.. White button down shirt, and pretty much it ;)

Those are for immediate family members… Thank you very much! ;)

I will share some of these black and whites with everyone.  We ventured away from the studio, to get some nice fresh air, and enjoy the morning.

Birds singing, cars driving by, and the wind blowing.  What more can you ask I say.  Please do!

We got to play in the dirt as boys must do at the grand ‘ole age of 1..

You know there’s a lot of stuff on the ground besides dirt.  We had some straw to play with as well.

Once bored with sitting in dirt, we had to scale along the inside of the barn to see what’s at the other end of the BIG BUILDING!!!

Once we maneuvered across the wall step by step, we found that there was a great big world out there..

I think I’ll lay down and take a nap.  Been a busy day today…  Yawwwwn

:)

It’s still summer….

or at least it feels alot like it.  OMG, when are we going to get some cooler weather, and some rain.  Anyhooooo.

Worked with a great kid last night.  Ms.Katie from Dresden.  Got some nice images of her for her senior portraits.  Hope to have some of those up today as well.

On a side note, I’m really excited about my new clothing for infants,  one,  and two year olds.  These have a very rich couture looking feel to them.  I’m still in the process of ordering others to have a nice wide selection to choose from.

Follow the blog to see new images of these in the next week or so.  These are all handmade when ordered so the turnoround time is a bit longer than I would like, but they’re made in the USA, so I guess it’s worth the wait.

I’m also working with a very talented digital artist from London, with regard to some of my portraits with some of the small children I’ve taken images of.

Hope to have a gallery of them on my website soon, as well as prints in the studio on display.

K a i t l y n

from Graves County came in and visited and stayed a while.

Of course, while she was here, we thought while she was here, we would grab some senior work for here..

Oh BTW, Kaitlyn, I owe you a tootsie roll for bringing in your clothes on hangers… :)

A big thank you for that.

After looking over the clothing, accessories, and what not, we got right to work.

Time is a waisting, and we don’t have a lot of it.

Completed the inside work, the rolled into the outdoor work.

Which is my fav BTW… ;)

Got a chance to play with bubbles too, while shooting.  Heck, we even got to play with a black cat.  He’s a good cat too.

I love shooting late in the day.  Just wished the sun would stay out  longer that time of day.

Seems when she starts to set, she off and running.

I should have your proofs done and ready for you to pick up next week sometime.

Till then K. ;)

Nikki blew in the studio sometime late Sunday evening.

She loved Karisma’s make-up as well.  Thanks Landy ~!~

Nikki attends O.C.H.S  in her spare time… ;)

We unloaded the car, and I started to rummage through the clothing.  The more I looked, the more I smiled.

Oh, thanks Nikki for bringing the clothes in on hangers. LOL

We jumped right into the studio work, all the while I’m thinking I want to slip outside and shoot some work.

I never have enough time to shoot all the work I want.  Nature of the beast I guess.

Anyooooooooooooooooooooo, Nikki settled right in, and we got down to biznazzz.

After some work inside, we rolled.  Packed up some gear, ordered Pizza, and did our oustide thang.

Love those Boots and Brown Converse Nik ;)

Nikki’s coming back in late October to shoot some wintry work… wintry?  Is that a word?  It is now!

I’ll catch up with you and your mom later in Oct.  Dress WARM !!!

Cam had asked me if I was ready via FB one day… ;)

I told her, I had my straight jacket handy, in case I needed it.  But the jacket was for me, just in case things got out of hand..

Anyhooo, Cam blew into the studio around 3:15′sh..  I helped her unload her gear.

After looking over her clothing, I started to get an idea on what we may try.

Cam plays H.S. golf for Hickman County.  I asked her all the while grin’n, Hickman Co. has a golf team?  She quickly replied back, “you making a point with this”?…. ;)

I figured if I was smart, and didn’t want a driver up side the head, I would just drop the conversation about Golf and Hickman High…

I did ask her if she was good.  She replied back DUH?  Yeah.  But of course.  Good luck with the competition Cam.

There was a point in time, when Cam and her mom were laughing at me.  Something about a phone, and expressions…  Not sure what that was about. [wink wink] .

Not the first time someone laughed me though, to be honest… ;)

After the studio work, we rolled.  BTW, who did catch that little dog that was all jacked up on Mtn.Dew anyway.  I know it wasn’t Cam and I, since we were shooting.

The only thing I hate about the afternoon, is that it didn’t last long enough, and I didn’t have more time with Cam and Mrs. Biz..

Thanks Mrs. Biz, for the assist.

See you guys in October.

Remember.  BRING STUFF !!!

;)
